The scenes from the Metamorphoses of the Latin poet Ovid are illustrated with 96 copperplates produced from the originals by Crispijn de Passe Senior. The short explanation
is in Latin and the verses in German which explain the pictures were engraved. The frontpiece, which is at the same time a dedication to Count Wolfgang Engelbert Auersperg, was made by A. Trost, whereas the next one was signed by M. Greischer
